Introduction :
The Magdalena Island is situated in the Magallanes Region in Chile and lying 35 km northeast of Punta Arenas.The island is the natural breeding ground and home to more than 120,000 penguins during the migration and breeding in September to October each year. The island is only 1 square km in size and is currently uninhabited. Main attractions on the island is the cute penguins all over the shore.

History :
The penguins on the island has been declared as a national natural monument named as “Los Pinguiinos Natural Monument” and was monitored since 1998 to hold at least 63000 breeding pairs of penguins.

Getting there :
The nearest airport to the island would be the Presidente Carlos Ibáñez International Airport (PUQ) followed by a trip of around 40 km to the destination.
